Leaving you hanging

HI,

I thought it might be interesting to pose a possible problem situation as an exercise to flex your creative comedy mind muscles. What scripting would those of you out there in Comedy Café land apply to the situation of the non-responsive member of the audience who's been directly addressed? Obviously on the vast majority of occasions you could just pretend to have heard a response and work from that, or just move on to someone else or maybe something else. But lets assume you cant do that on this occasion, perhaps it would cause a loss in the audience's confidence in you.

So... you've committed yourself, or have invested yourself, in getting a response from a specific spectator who just decides that, for whatever reason, they don't want to join in even at the level of giving a one word answer to a non demanding question. (e.g., what's your favourite colour? or name an animal, or give me a number between 1 and 100)

Let's assume you know for sure that they are basically just being a deliberately awkward rather having a hearing or language issue. What might you say to them, or the audience, to generate laughs and move the show along that lets the audience know that this person is being a bit a pain whilst ensuring that you don't come down too hard on them?

Any help will be apprecited.

I didn't find the right solution from the Internet.
